Flyers submit offer sheet to Ducks’ Leo Carlsson amid trade rumors

Summary

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed Anaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson to an offer sheet. The Ducks have one week to decide whether to match the offer or allow Carlsson to leave, which would result in the Ducks receiving four 1st-round picks from 2027 to 2030. This situation presents the Ducks with financial considerations, especially regarding the $18 million average annual value. The Flyers could explore trades to incentivize the Ducks not to match, with potential player swaps focused on improving the Ducks' defense and adding prospects. Historical precedents suggest the Flyers could negotiate deals using draft picks as leverage.
