Southampton midfielder Flynn Downes stated that the team is motivated to win the Championship this season, especially after being removed from last season’s play-offs due to the Spygate scandal. Despite starting with a four-point deduction, Downes believes the players have a chip on their shoulder that will drive them to success. He emphasized the team's unity and readiness as they prepare for the upcoming season, following a successful pre-season in Germany. Southampton will begin their Carabao Cup campaign against Colchester United this Saturday and face Watford in their league opener the following weekend.
