Folarin Balogun cancels move to Everton after medical dispute

AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun abandoned a proposed transfer to Everton on deadline day after a conflict regarding his medical assessment. While an initial agreement for a €50m package was in place, Everton paused the deal to investigate concerns regarding the player’s health. Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro confirmed that although medical staff eventually cleared Balogun to sign, the striker withdrew from the agreement. Balogun stated he felt uncomfortable with the club’s public handling of the potential health issues and their treatment during the review process. Arsenal retains a 17.5% sell-on clause in the player's contract, which runs through 2028. The future of the striker remains with Monaco as he prepares for the upcoming season.
