Folarin Balogun transfer collapses following failed Everton and Monaco negotiations

Folarin Balogun's proposed move to Everton collapsed on Deadline Day, leaving Everton, Chelsea, and Monaco without their intended transfer targets. The deal for the USA international initially stalled after Everton's medical department identified an injury that both Monaco and the player disputed. Everton subsequently attempted to restructure the £40m agreement with more performance-related clauses to mitigate risk. Balogun chose to pull out of the transfer after taking offense to Everton’s simultaneous pursuit of Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, which he perceived as a lack of commitment to his signing. Meanwhile, Chelsea lost out on midfielder Lamine Camara after Monaco cancelled the sale, which was intended to provide Chelsea cover for Enzo Fernandez. Everton maintains their interest in Zirkzee was separate from the Balogun deal and intended to sign both players.
