Former 49ers tight end Brayden Willis clears waivers after roster release

The San Francisco 49ers released tight end Brayden Willis from their 53-man roster on Saturday. Willis subsequently cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent. The team created a roster spot for long snapper Jon Weeks after promoting him from the practice squad. With a vacancy now available on their 16-man practice squad, the 49ers are expected to pursue a reunion with Willis. If re-signed, Willis would remain with the team in Melbourne to continue participating in practice sessions. He appeared in 23 games over the last three seasons, primarily contributing on special teams units.
