Former champion Heather Hardy seeks assistance for traumatic brain injury

Former WBO Featherweight champion Heather Hardy has launched a fundraising campaign to manage living expenses following a diagnosis of a traumatic brain injury. The 44-year-old fighter, who also competed in Bellator, reported that years of combat sports caused persistent vision and health complications. Hardy last competed in August 2023, where she suffered a unanimous decision loss to Amanda Serrano. Following that rematch, she experienced ongoing dizziness and double vision, which eventually led to her retirement from professional combat sports. She is currently working to address the long-term impact on her health and her ability to maintain consistent employment. Her online fundraiser has raised over $42,000 against a $100,000 goal to help cover basic necessities while she shifts her focus to recovery and finding stability outside the ring.
