Matt Suhey, a long-time fullback for the Chicago Bears, passed away on Sunday at age 68. Suhey played for the organization for 10 seasons after being selected in the 1980 NFL draft. During his tenure, he served as a key lead blocker for Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton. Throughout his career, Suhey recorded 2,946 rushing yards with 20 touchdowns, alongside 2,113 receiving yards and five scores. He was a member of the 1985 Bears team and scored the first touchdown in the franchise's 46-10 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX. Beyond his on-field performance, he was recognized as a mentor within the locker room and served as the presenter for Jimbo Covert during his 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction.
