Former Giants fifth-round pick Eli Davidson retires from NFL

Eli Davidson, a former fifth-round pick of the New York Giants in the 2022 NFL Draft, has retired from the NFL as of August 8, 2026. Davidson was placed on the reserve/retired list by the Washington Commanders, where he joined in March after a four-year stint with the Giants. During his time in the league, he played in 47 games, recording 49 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Davidson concluded the 2025 season on injured reserve due to a neck injury and concussion, which followed an ACL tear in his rookie year. His retirement comes amid the Commanders' roster moves, which included signing three offensive linemen.
