Former Inter defender Yuto Nagatomo celebrates his 40th birthday

Yuto Nagatomo turns 40 today, marking a career milestone for the player who became the first Japanese representative in the history of Inter. Originally joining the Nerazzurri in January 2011 on a loan swap with Cesena, the full-back spent seven years with the club. Known for his unconventional movement and high energy levels on the pitch, he recorded several notable performances, including a 3-1 victory against Juventus in 2012 and a deciding penalty kick against Pordenone in the Coppa Italia. His playing style was defined by late-game stamina, which he often attributed to the consumption of umeboshi before matches. Beyond his on-field contributions, Nagatomo gained cultural recognition through his likeness appearing in the manga series Captain Tsubasa.
