Gary Myers, a former NASCAR driver and patriarch of a multi-generational racing family, died Thursday night at age 76. Over his five-year career in NASCAR, Myers made 47 starts. A native of a lineage of racing royalty, he was the son of Billy Myers and nephew of Bobby Myers, both considered legends of the sport at Bowman Gray Stadium. Throughout his own racing career, he secured 38 victories at that same venue. He is the father of professional racers Burt Myers and Jason Myers. His son, Burt Myers, confirmed the news in a public tribute, noting his father had struggled with health challenges in recent years. The family maintains a long history in the sport spanning four generations, with cousin Danny 'Chocolate' Myers also serving as a prominent NASCAR personality.
