Former NFL player Mark Sanchez files guilty plea in Indianapolis assault case

Former NFL player and Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez filed a guilty plea in Marion County Superior Court on Thursday regarding an October altercation in downtown Indianapolis. The legal action follows an incident near Loughmiller's Pub & Eatery, where Sanchez was involved in a confrontation with a 69-year-old man over the placement of a work truck. Sanchez, who was in the city to cover an Indianapolis Colts game, suffered stab wounds during the fight and was initially hospitalized in critical condition. The other individual involved also sustained injuries during the encounter. Following the incident, Fox Sports terminated Sanchez's employment in November and named Drew Brees as his replacement. The court has not yet accepted the plea or scheduled a sentencing hearing for the former quarterback, who played 10 seasons in the NFL before retiring in 2019.
