Former Notre Dame players contribute to Team USA FIBA World Cup success

Team USA completed group play at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany with an undefeated 3-0 record. The Americans opened the tournament with a 94-61 win over China, followed by a 55-52 victory against Italy and a 105-64 win over Czech Republic on Monday. Former Notre Dame standouts Jackie Young and Sonia Citron contributed to the USA roster during these opening matches. Young leads the team with an average of 11.3 points per game, including two 12-point performances. Citron saw limited action throughout the group stage but recorded 10 points, seven rebounds, and two steals during the win against the Czech Republic. Team USA is scheduled to participate in the tournament quarterfinals this Thursday.
