Former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin joins NBC for the 2026 NFL season

Mike Tomlin begins a new career as an analyst for NBC this week, marking his first season away from the sidelines after 19 years as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tomlin will join the broadcast team for the network's Football Night In America pregame show, starting with the 2026 season opener between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Throughout his tenure in Pittsburgh, Tomlin recorded 193 regular-season wins and led the team to a Super Bowl 48 victory. The 54-year-old noted he is experiencing performance anxiety while adjusting to the transition from coaching to broadcasting. Tomlin previously made his analyst debut during the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame preseason game between the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers.
