Former Steelers safety criticizes Teryl Austin's coaching

On July 8, former Steelers safety Juan Thornhill publicly criticized ex-defensive coordinator Teryl Austin in a TikTok comment. Thornhill expressed discontent with Austin's coaching style after a disappointing season for the Steelers defense, which ranked poorly in overall and passing defense. Following the season, Teryl Austin was replaced by Patrick Graham as defensive coordinator after Mike McCarthy took over as head coach. Austin later joined the Arizona Cardinals as a senior defensive assistant. Thornhill, who played nine games for the Steelers in 2025, is currently a free agent.
