Rod White, the former head football coach at Swain County, North Carolina, passed away on August 2 at the age of 69. Over his 12 seasons, he led the Maroon Devils to two state championships in 2001 and 2004, with a coaching record of 94-59-1. Before becoming head coach, White served as an assistant for 18 years under legendary coach Boyce Deitz, contributing to five additional state championships. In 2015, he was inducted into the Swain County Hall of Fame. A celebration of life is scheduled for August 8 at the gymnasium in Swain County from 2-4 PM.
