Former University of Hawai’i football staffer sues over narcolepsy discrimination

Ella Devenny, the former director of recruiting for the University of Hawai’i football program, has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit alleging discrimination related to her narcolepsy diagnosis. Devenny claims that after revealing her condition, she encountered harassment and increased scrutiny from coworkers and bosses. The lawsuit details her experiences of being publicly criticized and ultimately facing increased disciplinary action, which culminated in the termination of her employment. The university is accused of mischaracterizing her departure as routine and performance-related. Devenny is currently the assistant general manager for Baylor University athletics.
