Former Walsall winger David McDermott dies at age 38

Former professional winger David McDermott has died at the age of 38. McDermott spent his early career at Walsall, where he progressed through the club's youth system and became the youngest debutant in its history at age 16 in 2004. After departing Walsall in 2008, he moved to Kidderminster Harriers, where he made 54 appearances over two seasons and recorded two goals. His career also included a stint at York City, where he played in 21 matches. Additionally, McDermott held tenures at AFC Telford United, Stourbridge, Rushall Olympic, and Worcester City throughout his career. Walsall issued a public statement offering condolences to the family and friends of their former player following the news of his death.
