Former Yankees pitcher Eric Plunk celebrates his birthday

Eric Plunk, a former right-handed pitcher for the New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics, turns 63 years old today. Born in Wilmington, California, in 1963, Plunk began his professional career after the Yankees drafted him in the 1981 MLB June Amateur Draft. He is recognized for a unique place in baseball history as the only player ever traded for the same Hall of Famer, Rickey Henderson, twice. Plunk spent his Yankees tenure between 1989 and 1991, following a stint in Oakland where he served as a set-up man for Dennis Eckersley.
