Formula 1 moves to the new semi-urban Madring street circuit in Madrid for the Spanish Grand Prix, scheduled from September 11 to 13, 2026. Drivers arrive following the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, where Kimi Antonelli secured a victory despite starting 19th on the grid. Antonelli enters the weekend with a 66-point lead over Mercedes teammate George Russell in the Drivers’ Championship standings. Ahead of the debut race, Formula 3 drivers tested the venue, which features technical sectors and a banked corner known as La Monumental. Drivers have described the track as an adrenaline-fueled experience with characteristics comparable to historic circuits in Monaco and Macau. Carlos Sainz completed the first official laps on the track to mark the lead-up to the inaugural event.
