Formula 1 drivers prepare for inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at Madring

Formula 1 returns to Madrid for the first time in 45 years this weekend with the debut of the purpose-built Madring circuit. The venue features a hybrid layout combining public roads and permanent track sections, including a unique banked corner referred to as La Monumental. Carlos Sainz, a Madrid native serving as a circuit ambassador, joins other drivers in describing the track as technical and demanding. The layout consists of 15 corners, characterized by significant elevation changes, varying speed sections, and proximity to trackside walls. Drivers have utilized simulators ahead of the opening practice sessions scheduled for Friday, September 11. While the event marks a new addition to the calendar, it serves as the second Grand Prix hosted in Spain this season following the race at Barcelona-Catalunya.
