Formula 1 introduces fully sustainable fuel for 2026 season

Starting in 2026, Formula 1 will use fully sustainable fuel, marking a significant shift in the sport's fuel regulations. This new fuel replaces the E10 blend previously used from 2022 to 2025, reducing the fuel allowance from 110kg to 70kg. The sustainable fuel, a petrol-like drop-in product, is composed entirely of non-food biomass, municipal waste, or captured carbon. It aims to maintain compatibility with existing engines while enhancing environmental sustainability. This change is part of a broader transition in F1 towards a 50/50 split between combustion and electrical power.
