Fort Mackinac Never Sweats face Portland Blue Sox in vintage base ball game

The Fort Mackinac Never Sweats will compete against the Portland Blue Sox in a vintage base ball game at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at the old ball field behind Fort Mackinac on Mackinac Island. This game highlights how base ball was played in historical contexts, featuring barehanded play and gentlemen's rules. Phil Porter, co-founder of the event, noted its inception in 2003 as part of a summer sports initiative in Michigan and its growth into a local tradition. Spectators will experience fines for smoking cigars and learn historical cheers. Previous encounters saw the Never Sweats winning two games in 2020 and 2023. Entry to the game is by donation.
