Following the contest, Tiafoe consoled an emotional Michelsen on the court. Tiafoe previously reached this stage in 2022 and 2024 but has not yet progressed to the final in New York. The 28-year-old player credited his recent performance to a change in his training staff and increased physical endurance work over the past year.
