Francisco Alvarez is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment for the New York Mets on Tuesday with Triple-A Syracuse. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that Alvarez will play during Syracuse's game against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at 6:35 p.m. Alvarez was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right meniscus tear on May 13 and had surgery on May 14.
