Free agent running back Austin Ekeler expresses interest in joining the Raiders

Former Chargers running back Austin Ekeler stated he would be open to joining the Raiders for the current season. The 31-year-old free agent, who resides in Las Vegas, noted that playing for his hometown team would be a positive development for his family. Ekeler identified his ideal role as a third-down back who specializes in pass protection and two-minute drill situations. Following a seven-year stint in Los Angeles and a one-year term with the Commanders in 2025, the veteran remains available to sign with any franchise. The Raiders have not indicated interest in the veteran, as the team currently features Ashton Jeanty and rookie Mike Washington Jr. on its running back depth chart.
