Freeride skiing and snowboarding added to 2030 Winter Olympics

The International Olympic Committee has confirmed the inclusion of Freeride skiing and snowboarding at the 2030 Winter Olympics, set to take place in the French Alps. This decision, announced on July 7, marks a significant milestone for the discipline, which emphasizes creativity and personal expression on untouched mountainous terrain. Freeride competitions differ from traditional skiing and snowboarding events by allowing athletes to choose their own lines or tricks in a natural setting, rather than on a groomed course. The introduction of Freeride will feature competition across four events, offering 44 athlete spots, split evenly between men and women.
