Freiburg hosts Borussia Mönchengladbach seeking a historic Bundesliga winning start

SC Freiburg enters Saturday's match against Borussia Mönchengladbach aiming for their first-ever three-game winning streak to open a Bundesliga season. Manager Julian Schuster oversees a squad that has won all five competitive matches this year, including league victories over Werder Bremen and Paderborn. Conversely, Borussia Mönchengladbach arrives at the Breisgau without a point following two league defeats to RB Leipzig and Elversberg. The visiting side currently struggles with a significant injury list that includes Jens Castrop, Enzo Leopold, Yukhym Konoplia, Daiki Hashioka, and Nicolas Kühn. History favors the hosts, who have maintained an unbeaten home record against the Foals for nearly 25 years. Freiburg reports a healthy roster for the upcoming fixture, while manager Eugen Polanski must reshuffle his lineup to address the defensive issues that led to seven goals conceded in their opening two games.
