Frenkie de Jong selected conservative treatment for knee injury at Barcelona

Summary

Barcelona announced that captain Frenkie de Jong has a medial collateral ligament tear and will miss time recovering. De Jong faced criticism for playing through injury during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He has chosen conservative treatment over immediate surgery, prompting concern at Barcelona over potential complications. The club fears a repeat of Ansu Fati's situation, where similar treatment led to extended setbacks. The focus now shifts to ensuring De Jong's recovery proceeds smoothly without needing surgery.
