Funeral service for Charles Kippy Brown scheduled for September 18

A funeral service for former Tennessee football assistant coach Charles "Kippy" Brown will take place on September 18 at Sweetwater Memorial Park in Sweetwater, Tennessee. The service is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET. Brown died on August 31 at age 71. His extensive coaching career included multiple stints at the University of Tennessee, where he served as wide receivers coach and later as interim head coach in 2010. Beyond his time in Knoxville, Brown coached for 22 seasons in the NFL, including a Super Bowl 48 victory as a member of the Seattle Seahawks staff. He was also a notable athlete, recognized as the first Black quarterback at both Sweetwater High School and Memphis State.
