GAA launches initiative to grow hurling in Ireland's non-traditional areas

The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) introduced its hurling development starter pack initiative on September 16, 2026, at Belcoo O'Rahilly's club. William Maher, GAA's national head of hurling, emphasized the need to expand participation, noting that only 115 of Ulster's 360 clubs play hurling. The initiative, supported by approximately €750,000 in funding from the Irish government, aims to equip and coach new clubs.
