Galaxy defeat Revolution 2-1 to bolster playoff standing

The Los Angeles Galaxy defeated the New England Revolution 2-1 on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park, securing a critical win in their push for a postseason spot. Marco Reus opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 11th minute following a foul on Kyogo Furuhashi. Robert Taylor extended the lead in the 33rd minute off an assist from Hirving Lozano. Although the Revolution outshot the Galaxy 24-8, goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski made six saves to maintain the lead until a late penalty goal by Carles Gil during second-half stoppage time. The result moves the Galaxy within a point of the playoff cut-off as the team integrates several recent roster additions to address a mid-season slump. The club has 10 games remaining in their regular season schedule.
