Gareth Anscombe awaits Scarlets debut after registration paperwork delay

Gareth Anscombe remains sidelined for the Scarlets following a registration issue that prevented the fly-half from participating in the pre-season match against Exeter Chiefs. Although the 35-year-old was named in the starting lineup for the fixture at Sandy Park, he was withdrawn shortly before kick-off. The club confirmed the former Wales international is not injured and has maintained his fitness during training throughout the pre-season. Anscombe, who returned to Wales this summer after a tenure with Top 14 side Bayonne, was signed to provide competition for Sam Costelow. Scarlets officials intend to resolve the administrative matter promptly to ensure the player is available for the upcoming match against Dragons on 11 September. The region is currently completing its pre-season schedule before the United Rugby Championship campaign opens on 26 September.
