Garrett Mitchell robs Manny Machado of potential game-tying home run

In Game 4 of the NLDS on October 8, 2026, Manny Machado nearly tied the game with a two-run home run in the eighth inning. Instead, Garrett Mitchell of the Milwaukee Brewers made a catch over the wall to deny the blast, leaving the Padres stunned. This incident echoed a similar moment from the 2017 World Baseball Classic, where Adam Jones robbed Machado of a homer in the same area of Petco Park. Machado, known for his power hitting at Petco, faced the heartbreak of seeing another potential home run taken away at a critical moment. As the game continues, the Padres are in a precarious position in the postseason.
