Gary Kelly reaches men’s singles semi-finals at Commonwealth Games

Gary Kelly has advanced to the men’s singles semi-finals without playing on Monday morning. The two-time Commonwealth Games medallist completed the group stage unbeaten with five victories. He secured his spot for the final four even before his last match, needing only a set against South African Wayne Rittmuller. Shannon McIlroy of New Zealand, his closest rival, could not secure the necessary victory against his opponent from Niue Island, allowing Kelly to advance. In the semifinals, Kelly is set to face Sam Tolchard from England, a rematch of their 2010 bronze medal play-off in Delhi, which Kelly won.
