Gavin Gallaher, Colin Hynek lead UNC to win over Ole Miss in MCWS

UNC had tied the game 2-2 before Gallaher's hit, and Hynek later hit a three-run homer in the eighth to secure the victory. Both teams utilized strong pitching, with Ole Miss's Taylor Rabe and UNC's Jason DeCaro holding firm until the late innings. The win marks UNC's third consecutive victory in Omaha's opening game since 2018. The Tar Heels next face West Virginia, while Ole Miss will play Troy in an elimination game.
