Geno Smith made his preseason debut for the New York Jets on August 21, 2026, in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He completed all seven of his passes for 65 yards, culminating in a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jelani Woods. This performance follows Smith's struggles over the past few seasons, including a difficult run with the Raiders. Coach Aaron Glenn expressed satisfaction with Smith's execution on the one drive as the Jets prepare for the regular season. While this game showcased the team's offensive potential, it remains uncertain if they can replicate this success in the regular season.
- •Smith completed 7 of 7 passes for 65 yards.
- •He threw a touchdown to tight end Jelani Woods.
- •The Jets played against a mostly-starting Steelers defense.
- •This marks Smith's second stint with the Jets since being drafted in 2013.
- •Smith aims to reclaim his early career form after a rough 2025 season.
