George Lombard Jr. commits third error in a row for Yankees

Summary

New York Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr. continues to struggle defensively, committing his third consecutive error during Sunday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Lombard mishandled a routine double-play ball that led to the bases being loaded instead of ending the inning. This error followed two others in the previous games, drawing frustration from the fan base. While Lombard has shown offensive promise with a.273 batting average in his first 16 games, criticism mounts regarding his defensive lapses at a high-stakes point in the season.
