George Pickens to play 2026 season on franchise tag with Cowboys

George Pickens will play the 2026 NFL season under a $27.3 million franchise tag after the Dallas Cowboys did not reach a long-term contract by the deadline. The decision comes after a successful first season with the Cowboys, where he recorded 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. Although the lack of an extension may raise concerns among fans, the Cowboys prioritize a larger sample of Pickens' performance compared to other recent contract situations. Training camp is expected to progress without the typical drama associated with Cowboys negotiations.
