George Springer of the Toronto Blue Jays is expected to return from the family medical emergency list as early as Monday, following the birth of his third child. Blue Jays manager John Schneider announced the move on Sunday after the team lost 4-0 to Seattle. Additionally, Max Scherzer is in Seattle following a rehab start in High-A Vancouver and is expected to make one or two more rehab appearances before being activated from the injured list due to back spasms.

"Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter George Springer could make his return from the family medical emergency list as soon as Monday, manager John Schneider said Sunday. The paternity leave expired, so the Blue Jays moved him to the family medical emergency list. “I think he's going to travel tomorrow,” Schneider said after Toronto's 4-0 loss to Seattle.
