Georgia baseball hires Luke Bonfield as assistant coach

Georgia baseball coach Wes Johnson has appointed Luke Bonfield as an assistant coach effective July 30, 2026. Bonfield, who previously contributed to the success of Pittsburgh's offense and has experience at Tennessee, is expected to focus on the Bulldogs' offense, outfielders, and recruiting. Johnson previously coached Bonfield during his playing days at Arkansas, where Bonfield was part of a national runner-up team in 2018. He takes over from Nick Ammirati, who has moved to Auburn after two seasons with Georgia. The Bulldogs recently made their first College World Series appearance since 2008, winning both the SEC regular season and tournament titles last season.
