Giants release pitcher Sam Knowlton during series against Reds

The San Francisco Giants announced the release of pitcher Sam Knowlton, 26, as they continue their series against the Cincinnati Reds. Knowlton, who joined the Giants organization from the Lexington Legends in June, struggled with a high 8.31 ERA while pitching for Single-A San Jose. Before his time with the Giants, he had mixed results with the Arizona Diamondbacks, including a 5.66 ERA in 2024. The Giants, who are currently in fourth place in the National League West with a 53-78 record, will look to improve as they play the second game of the series on Tuesday night.
