Giants update on injuries: Chapman may need surgery, others progressing

The San Francisco Giants announced multiple injury updates ahead of their next game. Matt Chapman has undergone an MRI revealing a core muscle injury and is consulting a specialist, with surgery possible and his season at risk. Victor Bericoto began a rehab assignment in AAA, while Marcelo Mayer joined the team for evaluation. Jesús Rodríguez is expected to be re-evaluated at week’s end. Joel Peguero and Jose Buttó are both working on their recoveries, with Peguero throwing live batting practice and Buttó only at flat ground. Additionally, Trevor McDonald and Casey Schmitt are both out for the year following surgeries.
