Gigi Chasco wins Journal Sentinel athlete of the week poll

Gigi Chasco, from Wisconsin Lutheran's girls volleyball team, secured the Journal Sentinel athlete of the week poll with 53.7% of the votes for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 5. In a five-set match against New Berlin West, Chasco delivered a standout performance, recording 26 assists, 14 digs, 12 kills, four blocks, and two aces. Her contributions were pivotal in Wisco's victory. Claire Baldwin from Sussex Hamilton was the runner-up, showcasing a strong week with 54 digs and 52 kills as her team posted a 6-0 record. Other nominees in the poll included athletes from football and cross-country. The poll results were announced on September 14, 2026.
