Gillingham sign Eli King and Zech Obiero on deadline day

Gillingham finalized two midfield signings on the final day of the transfer window. The club acquired 23-year-old Eli King from Cardiff City on a permanent contract for an undisclosed fee. King, a Cardiff academy graduate, brings experience from previous loan spells at Stevenage, Ross County, Morecambe, and Crewe. Additionally, Gillingham secured 21-year-old Zech Obiero on a season-long loan from Leyton Orient. Obiero joins the squad to bolster midfield options alongside King. The moves were completed as part of a busy deadline day for the Gillingham roster. King expressed readiness to integrate into the team and stated he is capable of playing as a six or an eight.
