Girls volleyball and soccer teams advance in playoffs

In the girls volleyball Division I quarterfinals, No. 2 La Salle swept No. 7 Barrington 3-0, with Adrian Brzoza leading the way with 13 kills. Meanwhile, in a Division I preliminary match, No. 6 Portsmouth defeated No. 11 East Greenwich also in a 3-0 sweep. In boys Division III soccer semifinals, No. 2 Ponaganset bested No. 3 Exeter-West Greenwich 3-1, and No. 1 Johnston overcame No. 5 Middletown 3-1. On the girls side, No. 4 Bay View edged out No. 1 Cranston East 1-0, while No. 3 Providence Country Day dominated No. 2 Pawtucket, winning 7-1. La Salle will face the winner of Classical and Portsmouth/East Greenwich in the semifinals at Rhode Island College on Nov. 10 at 8 p.m.
