Glentoran advances in County Antrim Shield as Carrick Rangers exits

Glentoran secured a 3-1 victory over Linfield at the Oval to move forward in the first round of the County Antrim Shield. Jordan Jenkins provided an early advantage for the home side with two goals within the opening six minutes. Although Charlie Chapman narrowed the deficit for Linfield in the second half, a goal from substitute Cal Weatherup restored the two-goal lead to seal the result. In other fixtures, holders Carrick Rangers were eliminated after losing a penalty shootout to Crusaders at Seaview. The first round featured multiple lopsided results, including Ballymena United’s 6-0 win over Ballymacash Rangers and Larne’s 4-0 defeat of Newington.
