Goalkeeper George Kamurasi departs South East Dons to become Ugandan king

George Kamurasi, the captain and goalkeeper for London-based amateur club South East Dons, is leaving the team to assume the role of king of the Tooro Kingdom in Uganda. The move follows the death of his cousin, King Oyo Nyimba, who passed away at age 34 on August 27 while receiving cancer treatment. Kamurasi, known as "Big G," was named second in line to the throne by his grandfather, King George Rukidi III, and was officially confirmed as the successor by a royal committee. The 36-year-old goalkeeper has served as a central figure for the South East Dons, a club that recently gained prominence after qualifying for the FA Cup. The royal family scheduled the burial for King Oyo Nyimba for September 12. South East Dons management has not provided a formal comment regarding the departure of their long-time team leader.
