Godolphin's Trawlerman retires after injury at Goodwood

Trawlerman, an eight-year-old trained by John Gosden, has been retired after suffering a leg injury during the Goodwood Cup. The horse won the Gold Cup at Ascot last year and accumulated over £2 million in prize money, also claiming two Long Distance Cups and an Ebor. He had recently returned from an eight-month layoff and was involved in a competitive race at Ascot, finishing just a head behind his younger rival. Following his retirement, he will be relocated to Wood Ditton Stud where he is familiar with the facilities.
