Gophers debut new row chant during 2026 season opener at Huntington Bank Stadium

The Minnesota Gophers introduced a new team tradition prior to the 2026 season opener at Huntington Bank Stadium. Inspired by the Viking Row chant performed by Norway fans during the recent World Cup, the program incorporated the display into its existing Row The Boat mantra. Former linebacker Kamal Martin led the student section in the chant before the opening kickoff. The organized routine involved the student section sitting down and performing the coordinated movement. As this was the first public performance of the new tradition, the team will monitor how the ritual evolves throughout the remainder of the season.
