Gophers lose backup center Brett Carroll, defensive lineman Enoch Atewogbola to injuries

The Minnesota Golden Gophers have announced that backup center Brett Carroll and defensive lineman Enoch Atewogbola will miss the 2026 season due to injuries. Head coach P.J. Fleck confirmed the news during an appearance at the Minnesota State Fair. Carroll, a redshirt sophomore and four-star recruit, was set to back up starting center Ashton Beers. Atewogbola, a sophomore and three-star recruit, has yet to see game action for the Gophers. Minnesota opens its season on September 3 against Eastern Illinois.
